A continue drawing performance by Atsuko Hatano (Japan) and Saskia Griepink (Nederland)

Mold: an every day growing fungus with different cells, layer by layer.
Sweet Mold will be a growing concert in 2D, 3D, 4D till a total atmosphere concert with a wave of sound and changing colors. Hatano (Composer, musician,Violist) and Griepink (drawing and collage Artist) are not an artistic duo but two different artists who discover each other a year ago on Instagram and later in real life in Amsterdam and Berlin.
We’re inspired by the work of each other and we are working every week life connected by Skype, on several etudes.
During or first “real life working together performance” in Tetem on the 19th of May 2019.
We made our own private work inspired by each other as different cells who meet, touch and then grow in different directions.

Over Saskia

In mijn tekeningen wil ik de krachtige natuur laten zien. Een natuur die met elkaar samenwerkt in leven en dood en communiceert op alle fronten. Dieren, planten, de zon en onze ondergrondse aarde in een samenspel vol warme en levendige kleuren.
Een natuur die soms verdraagzaam is maar soms ook niet. Die camoufleert of juist wil opvallen en daarbij de strijd aangaat om te overleven, om als een fenix elke keer weer uit de as te herrijzen.
Ik teken ook een onzichtbare microwereld die misschien nog wel belangrijker is dan al het grootste wat we zien omdat het de bouwstenen zijn van het leven.
Ik werk met pastelkrijt en inkt en gebruik collagetechnieken. Ik werk impulsief en niet volgens een vooropgesteld plan en laat me leiden door beelden die ik tegenkom, zowel buiten in de natuur als in een natuurprogramma op televisie.
Sommige elementen in mijn tekeningen wil ik nauwgezet weergeven en teken ik naar de waarneming, maar vaak werk ik op mijn gevoel aan een onderdeel wat meer in mijn fantasie ontstaat.
Wat ik wil overbrengen is een levensvreugde en het geloof dat de natuur altijd zal overwinnen.

About Saskia

In my drawings, I want to depict the power of nature—a nature that is constantly in motion, communicating on all levels, from animals and plants to the sun and the underground earth. Everything interacts and collaborates in a dynamic play of warm and vibrant colors. I use color to capture the diversity of nature: sometimes harmonious and tolerant, other times relentless and combative.
Camouflage and attraction alternate in an endless cycle of survival and rebirth—like a phoenix rising from the ashes time and time again. Beyond the visible world, I aim to depict a hidden microcosm, an invisible yet essential force that forms the foundation of all life. Perhaps even more important than what we can see with the naked eye.
My favorite medium is pastel, because of its soft, delicate texture and intense colors. I also work with acrylic ink and use collage techniques. My process is spontaneous and intuitive; I rarely follow a fixed plan. Sometimes, I draw inspired by my collages made of nature imagery from books and documentaries, while other elements emerge directly from my imagination.
Some aspects of my drawings are rendered with precise observation, while others take shape more intuitively. What I want to convey is a sense of joy in life and the belief that nature, no matter what, will always prevail.
